Why fortify
with potassium?
Together with sodium, potassium is essential for the maintenance of normal
osmotic pressure within cells. Increased potassium intake and reduced sodium
intake may help to lower blood pressure and the risk of coronary thrombosis and
stroke. The widespread lack of potassium in modern diets is largely due to
modern processing and high levels of salt added to most processed foods, which
robs the body of vital potassium.
Why choose
PURAC potassium sources?
PURAC offers two potassium sources, PURASAL P (potassium lactate) and GLUCONAL
K (potassium gluconate). Both potassium sources are generally permitted to be
used in food applications. PURASAL P has excellent organoleptic properties and
is therefore a good potassium source for the fortification of most food
products. GLUCONAL K also complies with USP and therefore has a strong position
in VMS and pharmaceutical applications. PURASAL P is supplied in liquid form
and GLUCONAL K in a granulated powder form.
