Meat processors have been asking for years for a cost
effective solution to kill pathogens on the surface of meat and poultry
products. PURAC is pleased to provide a solution through the launch of
Protect-M (based on Mirenatâ)
– a lauric arginate (LAE) surface treatment. Protect-M is only available and
approved for use in the USA.

Protect-M is an effective bactericidal solution against:
- Salmonella
- E. coli
- Listeria
It has no impact on taste and it is cost effective. Protect-M
can be used for both cooked and fresh meat up to 0.2% (200ppm of lauric
arginate)*.
When Protect-M is used in combination with PURASAL Opti.Form
to give Listeria control, processors can achieve Alternative 1 status for RTE
products.
