PURASOLV ELECT is the primary product for microelectronics applications and is the highest purity grade of ethyl lactate available. This high-purity product has very narrow specifications for metals, acidity and water, in order to enable its use as solvents for both established g-line and i-line photo-resists, as well as more advanced deep-UV resists.

PURASOLV ELECT represents a safe alternative to other solvents, such as PGMEA or MAK. Its application as a photo-resist solvent is complemented by its use in edge-bead removal or photo-resist stripper formulations.

PURASOLV ML is used as an edge-wipe solvent for dyes used in the production of CD-R and DVD-R disks due to its compatibility with substrates like polycarbonate and vinyl.

Other applications in the microelectronics industry for PURAC products include strippers and post-rinse CMP (chemical mechanical polishing) cleaning formulations. For these applications, PURAC has a special low metal grade lactic acid available that is applied as a pH regulator and a metal-chelating agent with selectivity for certain metals used in modern chip designs. The metal-chelating properties (e.g. for copper) of gluconic acid are also of interest for this application.
