Research into resorbable polymers started at our
R&D laboratory in Gorinchem, The Netherlands in the late 1960s.
L-lactide was synthesized for the development of resorbable sutures
and shortly thereafter the first polymers were synthesized in the
lab.
In order to facilitate a rapidly expanding customer
base a dedicated state of the art GMP production facility was built
in 1999 at Purac's location in Gorinchem, The Netherlands. This
facility was opened in 2000 and in 2002 the polymer production
capacity was doubled. In 2005 a new R&D and QA/QC building was
opened. This also made it possible to fully implement our ICHQ7
quality system in 2005.
Thanks to the continued trust of our customers in our
capabilities and products we have been able to achieve the above
results and become the independent and reliable, large-scale
supplier that we are today.
