Since we built our first plant in Schiedam - The Netherlands -
in 1931, we have been developing natural and sustainable
solutions for many industries. It all started with the industrial
use of natural lactic acid in dyes for leather and wool.
A couple of years later natural lactic acid was applied as a
food ingredient. Nowadays Purac is a leading company in
natural food preservation, lactic acid based bioplastics and
biobased chemicals with branches all over the world.
